About us
HZ&PC Heerenveen and Fryslân Open
In 1994, synchronized swimming was founded within HZ&PC Heerenveen. Started with five swimmers, this part of HZ&PC Heerenveen has now grown into a stable department with more than 40 swimmers.
From a sporting point of view, the sychroon swimmers of HZ&PC Heerenveen have participated several times in the Synchrobeat and the Dutch Youth Championships, individually but also as a group. In the 2009/2010 season, a group even reached the finals of the Synchrobeat and in 2013 a swimmer reached the finals at a National Championships with a solo.
HZ&PC Heerenveen has the most suitable swimming facilities in the north for the practice of the sport and to organize important synchronized swimming competitions. HZ&PC Heerenveen has now hosted the NJK Synchronized Swimming four times.
With the rise of the Masters (officially from the age of 25, but also the so-called pre-masters (20-24 years) are represented within HZ&PC Heerenveen), there was also a growing need for competitions for these ages.
In 2019, the first competition for Masters was organized and with that, the Fryslân Open was a fact. In recent years, we have seen the number of participants grow a step further and the reactions of swimmers, trainers, staff, jury and visitors show that they appreciate the Fryslân Open for the warmth, casualness of the championship and the friendliness between the participating associations. As an organization, we are of course extremely proud of this. That is why we are already eagerly looking forward to the 5th edition that will take place next year (5 & 6 July 2025)!
What do we stand for?
HZ&PC Heerenveen and the Fryslân Open stand for:
What do we want to achieve?
- Relaxed atmosphere due to minimal rules
- Conviviality and sporty fraternization
- Competition at international level
The Fryslân Open is a championship of, by and for the swimmers! Everything revolves around organizing a championship where swimmers can get the most out of themselves, but where fraternization and fun are always paramount!
